Reflective account Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Reflective account - Essay Example First, this benefitted their company by producing quality service through their specialized skilled laborers. They gained the industryââ¬â¢s acclaim as the Best Large Company Apprenticeship in 2008. Because of their passion for becoming good at what they are doing, they acquired more clients in the business. I personally liked this initiative by the company because if I become part of their company one day, they would support my career and equip me with trainings that would make me an asset to their business. In terms of human resource development, A & P also shows the same level of dedication to their employees well-being. For example, many employees have been with them for the last thirty years. Nowadays, it is rare to see such cases of loyalty because competitors abound in a certain industry. In this case, it seems that A & P has been very good to its employees as well to their families because they remained to work for this company. In fact, a lot of old employees have forecas ted their retirement years with A & P. I was able to ask one of the employees and ask why they remained in this company and he just saidâ⬠itââ¬â¢s like a family hereâ⬠. Indeed, this is amazing and makes me interested to work here too. I also noticed that A & P observes strict regulations when it comes to safety. Areas are marked properly as well personal equipment that must be worn to keep them safe. Nothing is scattered that can cause accidents and every material is properly stored and labeled. Because of this, workers feel safe in their work environment and perform with their best effort. Aside from their focus on human resource development, I was impressed by how Pendennis manages its business development under the excellent leadership of Mr.Toby Allies. He is very professional in his dealings and takes the customerââ¬â¢s needs at heart. Even the five sectors under the sales and marketing department are very serious in taking notes of the customerââ¬â¢s commen ts. This just exemplifies good business practice, since they take care of their customers and make them feel valued. Many customers appreciate the ease of communication with the different departments inside the company since their needs or requests are promptly met. This shows that Pendennis is an open organization that is willing to innovate itself by meeting the expectations of its customers. Actually, they even go beyond what is asked of them because they inquire from customers what else they need. From what I saw, it must be exciting to work on one of their sectors and customize solutions that would please the customers. Likewise, it must also be satisfying to do business with this company because my demands would not just be met but also surpassed. Another surprising thing that I learned about Pendennis is that they only accept a number of projects at a time. This demonstrates their ability to focus on current projects instead of aiming to make more profit with many projects. T his may seem sort of a weakness to other companies, but I would appreciate this as a customer. This means that the company is willing to give its full attention to my needs adding more value to their service. In return, I would refer them to other businesses I know that would bring them more clients. Despite these advantages provided by Pendennis, A & P has a leverage when it comes to servicing customers overseas. The staff can travel to any

Industrial Revolution and Unemployment in UK Essay
Industrial Revolution and Unemployment in UK - Essay Example Certainly, the revolution implicated increased per capita in the society, but the problem was that the rate of unemployment increased and the semiskilled laborers were rendered inefficient thus they lose their employment positions (Wilson 142). However, the rate of unemployment challenged all individuals in the UK society since the revolution presented a definite boundary between the employers and employees. Ideally, United Kingdom was the first economy that witnessed fast revolutionary changes during the industrial edge, and the people witnessed inequities in securing employment positions. Further, the differences between the society emerged in accordance to social classes, genders, and the levels of literacy challenged the society adversely. For example, an historical factory worker named Edward Carpenter from Wales who previously served as a weaver lost his employment in the height industrial revolution. Since Richard Arkwrightââ¬â¢s introduction of the Spinning Jenny, Edward s ecured an employment position as a factory superintendent in the late 19th century involved himself in a series of deeds that led to his death, and the death of a female factory worker. The following discussion evaluates the various existing arguments on the effects of the industrial revolution with an outline of the subsequent impacts that it presented to the society. Lastly, the discussion shall also involve Edward Carpenter social life and economic progress in the United Kingdomââ¬â¢s society during the industrial revolution period (Garside 68). An argumentative discussion on Edward Carpenterââ¬â¢s issues during the industrial revolution period Arguably, the industrial revolution influenced the English society to embark on various social and economic changes during the period. Edward was a weaver and having lived during the period, he worked at the Edmund Cartwright Looming Company to carry out managerial duties (Hill 241). However, the predominant aspect in Edwardââ¬â¢s life is that the weaving community reigned over the UKââ¬â¢s clothing groups thus; he was able to secure a senior position in the looming firm despite the norm that the young generation was overly accepted as the most efficient workers in the factories thus rendering most of the mature population unacceptable in the society. Similarly, industrial revolution seemed the most influential factor to social divisions as the society recurred to the use of employer and employee title depending on the position that one held in the labor industry (Wilson 146). Differences in the UK society highlighted that the industrial race introduced many of the technological advancements that led to the loss of tenure for the self-employed individuals since a task that was previously undertaken by a broad number of individuals in the society transformed abruptly to require a few workers and the use of machines to produce a worthwhile output. Therefore, such changes transformed the economical perspecti ve of Edward. Preferably, he turned out to be an employee who had limited time for other activities while his former weaving profession enabled him to address family, and other social issues (Tosh 75). Edward Carpenterââ¬â¢s undocumented history impounds the anti-social practices that existed during the time (Wilson 148). Child labor was prevalent, but it was poorly addressed during the industrial edge. The struggling characterââ¬â¢s practices posed poor approaches to production, and delivery of the looms since he lacked factory-working skills, which differed broadly with his former weaving skills. Mainly, the use of machinery rendered hand weaving a useless tenure since the invented

How My Cousin Manuel Brought Home A Wife :: essays papers
How My Cousin Manuel Brought Home A Wife Manuel Arguilla and Charlson Ongââ¬â¢s stories may have an almost similar title, with each of the main characters bringing home a wife who is different from the local people. However, the newer version addresses a much more serious issue. In Charlson Ongââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"How My Cousin Manuel Brought Home A Wifeâ⬠, the writer used contrast of characters(particularly Consuelo and Mei Lu) and contemporary language to show that even in the modern age, racial discrimination still exists and destroys oneââ¬â¢s happiness. Hearing about his sonââ¬â¢s return with a Brazilian wife, Mei Lu is devastated. Her agony clearly worsens to the extreme upon seeing her daughter-in-law: Consuelo, a huge and black woman whom she describes as ââ¬Å"bigger than the great wall and blacker than the pit of her kettleâ⬠. ââ¬Å"She might learn to live with the fact of a foreign daughter-in-law, Spanish-speaking and all. But Consuelo? The woman simply failed to strike me as being in the universe of possibilities Aunt Mei Lu could imagine.â⬠It is made clear by the writer in these lines that a foreign daughter-in-law of a skin color other than black would be bearable for Mei Lu. Mother says Carlos should not have brought Consuelo to the house. But did they not send Carlos to the airport to bring the couple back home? Apparently, they were expecting a white Brazilian. At 70 and being ââ¬Å"from an age where the word beauty conjured a fairness often described as being edible and where petite, teen-age, virgin brides were tucked neatly into fragile sedan chairs fit for babesâ⬠, Mei Lu can not accept the fact of having Consuelo, who has just the opposite qualities, as the wife of her only son. She regards Consuelo as subhuman. This she reveals by her wailing: ââ¬Å"You call that a daughter-in-law?â⬠Furthermore, she associates Consueloââ¬â¢s black skin color with evil. Eventhough she has not spoken a word to Consuelo, except for the words ââ¬Å"O kuiâ⬠she called to her face, Mei Lu automatically as sumes that she tried to kill Manuel, who was actually saved through Consueloââ¬â¢s psychic abilities, and is only after Manuelââ¬â¢s money, which is not as much as Mei Lu thinks at all.

Southwest Airline Company
What this means is that their primary goal within the company IS to add value in their offered services toward their customers, focusing on delivering both low cost and high quality. This is combined with a focus on the employees within the organization. CEO Herb Keller exemplifies this through stating that the philosophy of the company is to take good care of employees first which in result will lead to the employees taking care of the companies customers. We argue that the companies' competitive advantage ices primarily in its cost-UCM strategy. Southwest has chosen to differentiate themselves to the domestic market which means that they reduced the geographical scope of their flashlights to only offer domestic flights. This in combination with a decentralized organization has given the company the chance to specialize in a particular area while also allowing them to cut costs, ergo a cost-UCM strategy.Another competitive advantage is gained through a loose based control strategy. W e argue that Southwest works towards empowering their employees, basically giving them more responsibility and authority to manage their jobs and respective departments. An example of this is the unique hiring process they enforce, where the respective vocations interview and hire their peers. To quote the book ââ¬Å"I hire good people and I leave them alone to do their jobsâ⬠. A quote that closely resembles CEO Herd Sleeker's philosophy. This can also be argued as a competitive advantage for the corporation since the high level of organizational decentralization empowers the workers and supports the organizational culture. This is an example of informal structure, which Southwest exercise. Informal structure is built very much on trust. In combination with a decentralized organization that employs loose based control strategy, as is the case with Southwest, trust is crucial. Even with the high level of trust within Southwest, there are still a set of rules to which the employe es must adhere.

The Effects of Social Norms on Society
Dr. Kenneth Hoffman Sociology 200-302 2 January 2013 The Effects of Social Norms on Society In a world where routine is dominant and change is difficult to adhere by, social norms have become major assets for a smoothly functioning day. With the experiment of breaking normative behavior I wanted to do something subtle yet startling. Sometimes the smallest changes in behavior receive the toughest adjustments. First impressions have a strong influence on a personââ¬â¢s relationship with someone else. With that being said, I decided to change the way I went about greeting people. The opening greeting of shaking hands and smiling has become so common it has lost value and become routine. The subtle change I made to my greeting was that I decided to only say my name in a monotone voice and shake hands with the wrong hand, leading to responses of surprise, unease, and sometimes anger. With most people being right handed, I have made the assumption that this could be why the common greeti ng is to shake with oneââ¬â¢s right hand. The ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠greeting is to smile, say hello, and shake with your right hand. People have taken what use to be excitement to seeing each other to going through common motions repeated multiple times. This greeting is a sign that one may have come from a proper upbringing and family, possibly middle to upper class. It is also taken as a common sign of acceptance to strangers meeting for the first time. My sample size of people ranged from people of all ages and relationships to me. I decided I would greet with a plain face and state my name and reach out with my left hand with all introductions. People who did not know me well believed I was unpleasant and felt awkward. My new greeting was taken with surprise, as people who know me well believed I was in a bad mood or having a bad day.If I donââ¬â¢t do the norm Iââ¬â¢m considered upset and negative. From the experiment I learned that people commonly receive me as joyful an d energetic. In a way my own personal norm has evolved into me being upbeat whether my day has been good or bad. All people react to different stimuli in their own way. With that being said, I was surprised to find that out of the 20+ people I greeted against the norm, only one gave my greeting a ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠response without interruption. The lone person was a 12 year old boy I see regularly and he just continued what he was doing without a hint of awkwardness. The older people would teach and try to correct what they took as my ââ¬Å"ignoranceâ⬠toward a common greeting. A few of these older experimentees actually refused to shake my hand unless it was a right handed shake. People around the same age as me were awkward with a sarcastic manner, laughed, or just went ahead and shook my left hand after a moment of hesitation. With all the immediate responses having large variance, the most correlated response was that people thought there was something wrong with my well -being and tried to cheer me up.The overall response to the experiment ended up being quite humorous. It also opened my eyes to how much the people in my life care about me. While I expected the awkward moments, I expected more people to just go along with it and not be startled. Even the slightest changes in oneââ¬â¢s actions can affect the response and mood of how people interact with one another. In this case, it was subtle yet changed the entire complexion of the exchanges between the people I intercepted. With responses ranging from laughter to confusion, the smallest changes in normative behavior can have most astonishing results.

Today olives continue to be important to the economic development of the countries around the Mediterranean and are now a multi-billion dollar industry all over the world. The Olive has become a very important resource and contributed greatly to the trade and development of culture in and around the Mediterranean. Solon ruled over Greece for over a decade and put a ban on trading Olives outside of the country . This made olives readily accessible to everyone in the mainland of Greece because if it was not sold to foreigners . Food at that time was generally given a lesser value then those things that were traded at ports . After the trading ban was lifted all of the other peoples in the Mediterranean began trading for olives and olive products which made it a very valuable commodity to Greeks . Essay about Huck Finn River
Essay about Huck Finn River Essay about Huck Finn River Mark Twainââ¬â¢s masterpiece, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, primarily takes place around the majestic Mississippi River. In fact, there wouldnââ¬â¢t be a story full of adventures if the Mississippi River wasnââ¬â¢t there to provide Huck and Jim a mode of transportation. However, the river symbolizes much more than a physical landmark throughout the story. Twain effectively utilizes the river to play several roles in his novel. For Huck and Jim, the grand Mississippi offers them a gateway to new adventures, freedom, and comfort. When Jim decided to become a fugitive slave after realizing that he would be sold, Huck makes a daring commitment to follow him. Although Huck had his own reasons to flee, he possessed an insatiable thirst for adventure. ââ¬Å"Next morning I said it was getting slow and dull, and I wanted to get a stirring up, some way. I said I reckoned I would slip over the river and find out what was going on.â⬠(Twain 54) Huck dresses up as a girl in o rder to find out what was going on in the next town. It was a risky and foolish adventure, especially since Huck was aiding a runaway fugitive down the Mississippi River. The river simply didnââ¬â¢t allow Huck and Jim to have many uneventful days. Fog from the river also makes the duo miss the mouth of the Ohio River, resulting in witnessing a dangerous family feud, crashing their raft into a steamboat, and assisting two low-life con artists. These adventurous turn of events were all made possible by the Mississippi River. Since these events happened in real physical towns and landmarks near the river, Twain is able to provide the reader a high level of authenticity. For Huck and Jim, the river represents freedom and hope for a better life. Jim is shackled by the cruel reality of slavery; his wife and children were enslaved and separated as well. He has no intentions of being sold to a slave state and decides to utilize the river as an opportunity for a new life. Although Jim is an uneducated slave, he is smart enough to know that he would be free if the river carried him to a free state. The river was a great idea, because it wouldnââ¬â¢t leave tracks behind for slave catchers to follow his trail. Jimââ¬â¢s grand plan was to allow the river to carry him to freedom, which would allow him to work towards buying his familyââ¬â¢s freedom. This idealistic plan could only be made possible if the riverââ¬â¢s currents would allow it. Although Huck is white and legally not a slave, he feels hopelessly enslaved by society and his drunken father. ââ¬Å"All right; I can stop anywhere I want to.â⬠(Twain 34) After Huck escapes, his adventures on the Mississippi River begin. The river enables him to finally be in control of his own life. Neither the Widow Douglas nor Pap is able to mold him into something Huck is clearly not cut out to be. While floating down the river on a raft, Huck and Jim are finally able to experience a taste of freedom. Although floating down the river on a raft may seem to be a cluttered and cramped

After Decades in Institutions, a Bumpy Journey to a New Life by Rachel Article
After Decades in Institutions, a Bumpy Journey to a New Life by Rachel L. Swarns The paper "After Decades in Institutions, a Bumpy Journey to a New Life by Rachel L. Swarns" is an exceptional example of an educational article review. In my mind, Rachel L. Swarns provides a great picture of both the positives and negatives of moving terminally ill patients from state hospitals back into society. While I understand the reason behind it, many older people have lived all their lives in specialized care homes, so they have no knowledge of the outside world. The people that should be moved out of state care could be younger people, say under the age of 30. Patients of this age are more likely to be able to integrate into society because they have more time to do so and have probably only been institutionalized for a few short years. This is not the same case with elder patients, such as Wally Burns, who is 51-years-old. Mr. Burns is at a stage in his life where he will not be able to reintegrate back into the community because he will not know how to handle it. One of the reasons for this is that life is very different from the 60s when Mr. Burns was a young boy. While I can understand why some states are implementing these measures, I feel that the process should be much slower so that time can be taken to help older patients find themselves in society. Patients like Wally Burns require a high level of care, a level of care that may not be met where Mr. Burns will end up.

The Battle of Midway - One of the Critical Events in World War II Essay
The Battle of Midway - One of the Critical Events in World War II - Essay Example The military confrontation between the United States of America and the Japanese Empire escalated in the early months of 1942, as strategic territories located in and around the Pacific Ocean saw unprecedented levels of attritional warfare. The following passages will analyze the unfolding of events during the Battle of Midway from various authorsââ¬â¢ viewpoints and place this battle in the wider context of the Second World War and the then-emergent new world order. To begin with, let us consider the book written by Jonathan Parshall and Anthony Tully titled Shattered Sword: The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway. The most remarkable aspect of this book is the fact that the authors try to present the political and military developments from the point of view of the Japanese. American and British documentations of the Battle of Midway can at times be biased in favour of the Allied forces. So, this change in perspective offered by Parshall and Tully comes across as refreshing and different. This is not to say that their account of the story lacks objectivity and balance. We learn that Admiral Yamamotoââ¬â¢s planned to keep Japanese forces in the Midway and western Aleutian Islands as a way of gaining the advantage over the Naval Fleet of the United States1. In contrast with the commonly available literature on the Japanese plan, Parshall and Tully explicate in detail its technological, doctrinal and historical aspects spanning the early decad es of the twentieth century. The authors also allude to the contrasting motives and modus operandi of the Japanese and American air strategies. The following passage from the book illustrates the range of references and attention to detail exhibited by the authors: ââ¬Å"The Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, and Hiryu, the four aircraft carriers of "Kido Butai," the First Mobile Striking Force formed the offensive core of Japans fleet. Commanded by Admiral Nagumo, "Kido Butai" planned to attack Midway and then destroy any elements of the U.S. Pacific Fleet that tried to intervene.à Ã
Are human beings fundamentally witnesses to or creators of reality Essay
Are human beings fundamentally witnesses to or creators of reality (Gay Science 301) - Essay Example ality, and his declaration that ââ¬ËGod was Deadââ¬â¢ (Theory of Perspectivism, developed by Immanuel Kant), resulted in a lot of controversies and speculations over his works. Amongst many of his well known works, the book ââ¬Å"The Gay Scienceâ⬠first published in 1882 was considered by the author to be the closest to his heart or the most personal. This article will examine closely the Book IV, aphorism #301, of ââ¬Å"The Gay Scienceâ⬠and find out the underlying meaning, and study Nietzscheââ¬â¢s views on the topic ââ¬Å"Are Human Beings Fundamentally Witnesses to or Creators of Reality?â⬠The Gay Science was written during a very dark phase in the authorââ¬â¢s life. Between 1876, when Untimely Meditations was published and 1882 when The Gay Science was published, Nietzsche had undergone terrible sickness and complete isolation, which gave him time for self introspection, and an overall development of his mental faculties, and a quest for the right path. Therefore it was almost inevitable that the book The Gay Science would reflect these dark times and thoughts, exploring the profundity of human psychological thoughts. However, by the time it was published his mood had invariably changed for the better, so the book also gives the readers a feeling of being alive and vigorous yet light, and to some extent of joyous happiness. At the end of Book I Nietzsche himself comments "Pardon me, my friends, I have ventured to paint myà happinessà on the wallâ⬠(Nietzsche, 2001, 65). Book IV, aphorism #301: The Book IV as a whole advocates on how to live well, and is a positive and heroic acceptance of life. It pays allegiance to the legend of Saint Januarius, and assumes the tone of a teacher giving advice. Aphorism 301 is extremely important as it speaks of further augmentation of the ââ¬Ëhigher beingââ¬â¢, a state of existence developed by Nietzsche in the earlier parts, where he describes this ââ¬Ëhigher beingââ¬â¢ as someone who is courageous and takes pleasure in a hard fight,
Compare and contrast acute and chronic leukemia, in the answer, Essay
Compare and contrast acute and chronic leukemia, in the answer, discuss the differences between them in symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis - Essay Example Acute leukemia typically affects children (Coleman and Tsongalis 2006). Acute leukemia occurs for a short period of time in terms of days and weeks. On the other hand, chronic leukemia is not as common as acute leukemia in children. It mostly affects adults. It takes a bit longer to generate, and affects more mature cells. Chronic leukemia may develop over a long duration, which can be in terms of months or even years (Dugdale 2012). In acute leukemia, symptoms are quick to manifest while in chronic leukemia it may take more time to manifest these symptoms. However, symptoms of both types of leukemia remain the same. Patients of both types experience breeding or bruising, abdominal pains, difficulty in breathing, and recurring infections (Skeel and Khleif 2011). Nevertheless, due to its gradual onset of symptoms, therapy for chronic leukemia is characteristically less aggressive that that of acute leukemia. On diagnosis, acute leukemia is diagnosed by blood tests. Usually, the acute leukaemia cell can be spotted or seen circulating in the blood. A bone marrow test is also carried out to diagnose the type of cells involved (Skeel and Khleif 2011). This helps doctors make decision on the best choice of treatment to go for. On the side of chronic leukemia, the initial assessment involves an analysis of the bone marrow and peripheral blood, or both (Moreau 2008). Treatment of patients with acute leukemia is usually with chemotherapy, which is normally given through veins (Swearingen 2008). Chemotherapy is used to kill fast dividing cells. In some cases, a bone marrow transplant can also be recommended by physicians. Just like acute leukemia, chronic leukemia patients may be subjected chemotherapy in order to reduce the number of lymphocytes. Commonly used drugs include alkylators (Faguet 2004). CJUS 310 DB5 - Essay Example Community structure and the way it is organized has been assumed to be a recognizable factor when researching on the variation between crime rates and the respective communities from where the juveniles reside. High population density, low degree of attachment to the neighborhood, increased urbanization, and extreme residential mobility may worsen the probability of children to decide to engage in criminal acts. Overcrowded living environs, absence of, or limited natural surveillance, poor housing, and physical deterioration by the immediate population also associate with childhood delinquency minds and conduct disorder. Other related external factors in the community structure like poverty may interrelate with negative community characteristics and as a result produce many financial issues that may make children vulnerable to crime. Weak community bonds may also be a root to the inability to resist the penetration and distribution of drugs among ganged-up children, whose minds may be focused on carrying out criminal offenses to either get finances for the purchase of drugs or are just influenced to engage in acts like robbery and rape (Bursik & Webb,

Tuition Fees in United States Essay Example for Free
Tuition Fees in United States Essay Introduction In their best-seller book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert T. Kiyosaki and his co-author Susan L. Lechter encourage people to grow their assets instead of liabilities. In other words, they suggest that we, anyone who wants to be rich, should not spend our money in any way that is no relation with assets creation. While some parts of capitalism idea are true in assets creation, Robert gives hints what to invest in today ever changing market situation. They say that knowledge is the important thing everyone should invest to succeed as his ââ¬Å"Rich Dadâ⬠told me when he was a teenager. Knowledge does not mean that we pursue doctorate degree; instead, he suggests that we keep our eyes, ear, and other senses to any changes that we encounter everyday. In this manner, we could obtain knowledge from books, chat with a friend, magazines, pages on the Internet, and even from a barking dog. In compliance with the importance of having appropriate knowledge, in this paper we discuss the increasing number of international students who pursue their study into graduate schools and college in the U.S. To be specific, this paper discusses why international students pay more tuition fee than the U.S. citizen. Aims and Objectives Concerning the discussion of discrepancy of tuition fee between U.S. citizen and international students, this paper will discuss three aims and objectives as following: This paper intends to discuss why many international students eagerly pursue their college and graduate degree in the U.S Using the non-participant observation method, collecting data and analyzing qualitative information from journal, books, magazine and other online materials, this paper aims at discussion factors-factors that cause the tuition fee for international students are larger than the U.S. counterparts. In addition, the paper aims at highlighting the benefits that international student would obtain when they have U.S college or universities degree Attractiveness of U.S Education Institution According to Riley (2008), about 500,000 students coming from various countries in the world pursue their degree in the U.S. universities and college. There are many driving factors that encourage international students to go to the Uncle Sam land instead of to other universities in other part of the world like Europe and Japan. Currently, there are about 4,000 public and private colleges, universities, and community colleges in the U.S. This number includes more than 600 public four-year college and more than 1,650 private four-year colleges and universities (Riley, 2008). According to Riley (2008), the reason behind the increasing number of international students into U.S. education institutions is because they provide very high quality of education standards. This long-time quality is built by a strong partnership between students and their families, the federal government, individual philanthropists, and the states has created sustainable and recognized model of educational standard in the U.S. Since the quality of education can be better if they are challenged with cultural diversity, U.S. educational institution also race for attracting more international students to pursue their study in the U.S in order to create high quality experience and enrich the diversity of the universities. Figure 1à à à à à à à à à Top Universities in the World Source: Paked, 2006 à à à à à à à à à à à Another factor that encourages international students to pursue their graduate in the U.S is because many times U.S. universities and college are listed as the best universities in the world. This fact becomes the main basis for students since the pride of having U.S. graduates is valuable and saleable when they return to their home countries and chase for new attractive jobs and positions. High Tuition Fee for International Students One interesting fact behind the increasing number of non-resident (international) student that comes into the U.S. to obtain a degree is the difference amount of tuition fees that they should pay to a university compared to those of U.S. residents. For example, in the Idaho State University, students from the U.S. (residents) only pay $2,580.00 per semester. Meanwhile, other students coming from outside the U.S. (Non-residents) would pay about triple than those of the residents, about $6,922.00 per semester. Figure 2à à à à à à à à à UCLA Tuition Fees for Resident and Non-Residents (International) Students Source: http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/fees/gradfee.htm à à à à à à à à à à à Another example of the discrepancy of tuition fee for U.S residents and Non U.S. residents is on the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) that charge U.S. residents about $8,967 and $23,955 for U.S. residents (Figure 2). à à à à à à à à à à à Similarly, the fee for international students at University of California Berkeley is also higher than those of U.S. residents. At UC Berkeley, the tuition fee for U.S. resident is about $4,190.75 per semester. Meanwhile the tuition fee for non-U.S resident is $14,000.75, representing three times higher than the U.S. resident. Figure 3à à à à à à à à à UC Berkeley Tuition Fees for Resident and Non-Residents Students Source: http://registrar.berkeley.edu/Registration/feesched.html Reasons of High Tuition Fee for International Students There are many reasons underlies the decision to charge international or non U.S. resident a much higher tuition fee. They are as following Tax Subsidy According to Idaho State University (2008), the one-third tuition fee for U.S. residents can occurs since two-third of the tuition fee is paid by tax subsidy. By definition, tax subsidy refers to any kind of subsidy that recipients or students in case of tuition fee receive the benefits according to the tax system in the U.S. The origin of tax subsidy is from consumption tax, profit tax, or income tax. Law of Demand According to Open Doors, an organization that focuses on organizing and monitoring the promotion of US educations to foreign students, the number of international students enrolled in United States higher education institution decreases notable during the last 3 years. The last available data however, was regarding the number of international students enrolling in US universities in the academic year of 2003/2004, which is 2.4% lower than the previous year. The decrease in said to be caused by a variety of reasons, some of them are: Difficulties in obtaining student visas Rising of US tuition costs Vigorous recruitment activities by other English-speaking nations (International Students, 2004) This paper is dedicated to discuss the second cause, which is the rising tuition cost in United States. It has been a common knowledge that international students in United States pay two to three times tuition fees as much as those paid by US students. Thus, a considerable portion of these international students rely on grants and loans from US government or other foundations. Others rely on personal loans. The center of attention of this paper is in the persisted increase in the cost of tuition for foreign students due to inflation and decreased percentage of study cost covered by government and other grants. This continuous increase in study costs for international students raise questions on the necessity of charging such a higher tuition fees on international students compare to local students. Economic Matters The study tuition and fees in United States varies from $ 5,000 to $30,000. This does not include the cost of living which is quite high, particularly in areas around Washington, California and New York. For the particular Asian students, the cost of living varies from $ 4,000 to $ 9,000, assuming that the students will live in share apartments, live out of the campus and have less telephone bill other expenses than US students. Students receiving any type of help like TA/RA/Fellowship of GA do not need to worry about costs, but student lacks of those aids must come prepared for the considerable amount of tuition fees and living costs (Spencer, 2005). In 2005, the average cost of tuition rose to $ 5,491, which is a 7% increase from previous year. Including the costs of room and board, the average annual cost of attendance is basically increased to $12,127. Furthermore, if the costs of books, transportation and additional fees are added, the average costs become more than $15,000 nationwide. In some universities, like the University of Miami, the tuition fee alone is $35,000 per semester, with boarding, books and additional costs included, the total costs of education in the University for foreign students is approximately $ 50,000 per semester. These continuing trends of tuition fees enhancement are not without notable effects. The cuts in tuition aids programs along with increased tuition fees have put many low-income students out of college. There are even more notable phenomena where foreign students perform sexually-oriented work to pay for their tuition fees in US (The Chronicle of Higher Education, 2008). Attentive Support Just like a service company, the more benefits a customer obtain, the more expensive the price might be. This condition is also true for U.S. universities since about one-third of students (about 1.2 million students) that choose to take study abroad will land in the U. S. The reasons are because U.S. universities provide better services to their students including the Leading Technology to fast track of the student success in the future (Hyperstudy, 2007). Another reason is because education in America represents a high value in most of home-country students. This situation is somewhat similar to branded and non-branded clothing, which means that as branded universities, they charge higher tuition fees for international students (Hyperstudy, 2007). Conclusions This paper elaborates the increasing number of international students who pursue their study into graduate schools and college in the U.S. To be specific, this paper is to answer the follow why international students pay more tuition fee than the U.S. citizen. According to the analysis, the reasons behind this issue is because there are many incentives and benefits that international student may obtain from attending school in the U.S. Reference: Gorski, Paul. Principles of Feng Shui
Principles of Feng Shui Feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy about how humans and their environments interact and have relationships. It encompasses the principle that everything has energy and is connected to everything else. It is stemmed in the belief that based on laws of nature, principles, theories and techniques we can understand how to create an environment that allows us to be in harmony and balance. It also can guide us to enhance certain areas of our lives. The basic principle of feng shui is chi or energy. It is a feng shui principle that is used through all of life. It links the energy of all things together. There can be chi or energy of earth, the atmosphere and people. We can see the quality of chi expressed through areas of color, form, shape, sound and the various cycles in nature. Feng shui principles work to ensure that the chi is allowed to keep flowing and not get stuck or depleted. In feng shui principles, there are two main types of feng shui that we need to consider. One of these is physical and contains the actual structures, surroundings, buildings, roads and design. The other involves directional influences that although are invisible, still have an influence on our lives and how we relate to space and time. We need to take both feng shui principles into consideration when evaluating the chi qualities of an environment. According to feng shui, if an area in the environment is not being conducive to providing good chi, there are cures or fixes that we can use to return the chi to a natural healthy state and continue to flow throughout the space. We can fix or correct the feng shui of an area by making small or big adjustments and applying feng shui techniques. These techniques incorporate the use of different elements to create balance and harmony.

Freuds Concept of the Uncanny Essay -- Freudian concept of the uncann
When a person experiences chills or goose bumps as a reaction to something strange or unusual, they are being affected by a sense of uncanniness. The psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud endeavored to explain this feeling of uncanniness in his essay entitled ââ¬Å"The Uncannyâ⬠. Freudââ¬â¢s theory focuses around two different causes for this reaction. Freud attributes the feeling of uncanniness to repressed infantile complexes that have been revived by some impression, or when primitive beliefs that have been surmounted seem once more to be confirmed. The first point of his theory that Freud discusses in the essay is the repression of infantile complexes that cause an uncanny experience. Freud uses E.T.A. Hoffmanââ¬â¢s short story, ââ¬Å"The Sandmanâ⬠, to explain the idea of repression of infantile complexes. The story centers around the character of the Sandman, who steals the eyes of children. Freud states that the fear that the character Nathaniel feels towards the Sandman has more to due with an infantile castration complex than with the actual fear of losing his eyes. In Freudââ¬â¢s theory he states that the ââ¬Å"Study of dreams, phantasies and myths has taught us that a morbid anxiety connected with the eyes and with going blind is often enough a substitute for the dread of castrationâ⬠(Freud 383). If Freudââ¬â¢s belief is true, than it is Nathanielââ¬â¢s fear of castration that causes him in the end to go mad and throw himself from parapet. Nathanielââ¬â¢s fear is embodied in the character of the Sandman, whom Freud says represents Nathanielââ¬â¢s father, and thus is the cause of his fear of castration. The Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex would also be affected by Freudââ¬â¢s theory. When examining Oed... ...s the knowledge of something in the recesses of our memory that is unattainable in any definite sense. Freud does indeed succeed in explaining two very important causes of uncanniness, and they are easily identified in literature and in society. Freud believes that uncanniness is a result of repressed infantile complexes and also the confirmation of primitive beliefs. Freudââ¬â¢s observations are important because they help us better understand our reactions and our fears, which in turn help us better understand ourselves. As long as people continue to gain some sort of pleasure from enduring this sense of uncanniness, writers and film makers will continue to use Freudââ¬â¢s methods to bring about the uncanny. A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words Essays -- Photography Photographs
A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words If I were to take a room filled entirely with people and ask them to write about something that holds value to them, what would it be? To some, the word ââ¬Å"valueâ⬠means something that holds only a monetary value, something that can be bought and sold. The values that I am referring to are the values that an individual cannot place a price tag on. They are of special significance that hold a dear meaning to us deep down in our hearts. They are the things that are ever reminding us of the people that we are, and the people that we want to be. When I think of the word ââ¬Å"valueâ⬠I often think of love and family. I think about the importance of the gift of life, and just how very special it truly is. I also think of the times we share together, and how very precious they truly are. They are not material items that can be bought or sold; rather, they are foundations of who I am. Sometimes the non-material values we possess often run into the material things that we own. One of my most valued possessions would be my special photographs. They do not possess a monetary value, but rather, a great significance of memory to whoever possesses them. Photographs are like a moment frozen in time, individuals literally get to treasure that moment forever. Many times, cameras are the most important assets to people. Births, birthdays, baptism, first day of school, confirmation, vacation, graduation, weddings; they are just a few of the special events that people usually come all ready, equipped with a camera at hand. The reason? We all want to remember. We often rely on those pictures to remember those events completely and to be able to share them with other people. Growing up ... ...of the values that I hold close to me, but also, the values Ryan held close to himself. Ryan was not selfish, nor was he rude or conceded. He cared about everyone and everything. Ryan had so many friends, and he would have done anything for any one of them. He held family close, and lived each day as if it were his last. He was full of life, and he loved everything about living it. These pictures bring back all of those memories to me. They will never let me forget. They will never let me forget that huge, beautiful smile of his and that love of life, family and friends. These are now some of the greatest assets that I possess as a young woman. These are not values that anyone could ever place a price tag on, nor could anyone ever take them away from me, rather they are values that I will chose to live according to, and share with others along the way.

Conservative dominance in the years 1951 to 1964 Essay
The main reason for conservative dominance in the years 1951 to 1964 was labour disunity?â⬠Access the validity of this view I agree with this statement as the labour party leaders were ageing. The labour leaders were from the pre-war era therefore it meant that they were not in touch with the population. This led to labour disunity throughout the years as it caused Attlee to retire, he found that he couldnââ¬â¢t understand what the young wanted. For the public they left their trust with the labour party and put it in the conservatives as they felt that labour had failed to create the consumer revolution that everyone had hoped for. By 1951 the public were also fed up with the rationing that they still had to endure even though the war had ended 6 years ago therefore this helped the conservative dominance in those years. Another reason as to why labour disunity was to blame for labour dominance was the growing split in the party caused by the Bevanites and Gaitskillites. The split in the party was due to Gaitskell introducing prescription and dentistry charges. Bevan supported the left wing of the party whereas Gaitskell supported the right wing of the party and followed Attlee in becoming the next leader of labour government. The split led to disunity as Gaitskell didnââ¬â¢t have the full support of the party; his ideas were always going to be argued against. Another reason why the split caused disunity in the labour party was to do with the trade unions. The trade unions were supporting the left wing of the party; this was a problem particularly during the Scarborough conference in 1960. Frank Cousins was the leader of the one of the most powerful unions, TGWU (transport and general workers) and was an extreme left wing. He led fierce opposition to Gaitskell over Britainââ¬â¢s nuclear weapons. Gaitskell wanted Britain to have nuclear weapons because of the looming threat of Russia, during the cold war; they could wipe out countries at any time. At the party conference in Scarborough Frank Cousins opposed Gaitskellââ¬â¢s leadership over the labour party and in particular nuclear weapons. He challenged Gaitskell over his decision not to refect unilateral disarmament. This caused disunity in the party because it showed to the public how weak the labour party was if a trade union leader, who had no power within the party was able to dictate what they did. It showed to them that someone who was a small minority was able to gather a lot of power. It was humiliation for Gaitskell because it showed he wasnââ¬â¢t able to control what was happening to the party. Alsoà disunity in the party was due to the fact that the left wing of the party was closely associated with CND (campaign for nuclear disarmament). The left wing side of the labour party were in favour of nuclear disarmament and being connected with nuclear disarmament scared many labour supporters. Many people were not in favour of nuclear disarmament as it was at the height of the cold war and they were scared of a nuclear war happening; this link between the CND and the labour party could have led to many voters turning away from the labour party in the 1959 election. Another reason which could have turned people away from voting for the labour party in the 1959 election was the association of CND being anti-government. Their ââ¬Ëunilateralismââ¬â¢ became a powerful magnet for anti-government protest in some ways it almost was seen as a substitute for opposition in government. With many labour left-wingers associated with one of the most powerful pressure groups in Britain it made people question the ideas that the labour government had and their ability to run the country. The final reason for a split in labour disunity was clause four. Clause four was the commitment to nationalisation of everything which was a step towards socialism and communism. Gaitskell put forward the idea to abolish this clause and labours commitment to nationalisation to nationalisation. He was impressed with the way Germany had dumped their commitments to Marxist ideas in their party conference in 1959. Many people including the left wing of labour opposed this ide a and Gaitskell had to back down from his idea. With events happening in the world connected with socialism and communism, the abolishment of clause four was linked to the ideas of radical socialism which scared people as it was too close to communism for their liking. However it wasnââ¬â¢t just the labour disunity that caused the conservative party to remain dominant. The conservatives had strengths of their own that they used to the best of their ability. When conservatives came into power in 1951 it marked the end of the austerity era and the start of the post war boom. From 1952 most economic indicators pointed upwards with the boom in car ownership, home ownership increased, helped by the easy access to cheap mortgages and food rationing ended completely in 1954. Harold Macmillan who was then the housing minister fulfilled the election pledge of getting new homes constructed above 300,000 per year. The age of affluence helped keep the conservatives dominant in politics as it meant the public saw that partyà as the ones who could make a change. Also the conservatives keeping their promises meant the public would respect them. In the run up to the 1955 election Butler was able to boost conservative election prospects with a ââ¬Ëgive-awayââ¬â¢ budget. This meant for people in the middle classes would be provided with à £134 million in tax cuts. For these middle classes it meant an overwhelming support in favour of the conservatives because of the classes that might not have been able to afford the consumer goods were given a chance to. For the conservatives in the 1955 general election the public mood was what was described as a ââ¬Ëfeel goodââ¬â¢ factor. They wanted the continuation of the consumer goods and therefore they would continue to vote for the conservatives as they saw them as the party who would be able to offer them it. Another reason for conservative dominance was that the national press was overwhelmingly in favour with the conservatives. During the 1955 election this helped win support and it also helped during Macmillanââ¬â¢s time as prime minister. Macmillan seemed to have the media in the palm of his hand using the new political opportunities that were provided by the television. With the conservative party gaining wide spread coverage throughout the country and labour not, it meant people knew more about the conservative party. With the national press focusing on the conservatives it gave them enough attention to win the elections crushing labour in every defeat. An important reason for the conservative dominance was the personalities that led the party. Winston Churchill gained his reputation for leading Britain to victory during the war. However during his post war leadership he was very much absent and Anthony Eden the acting prime minister led the conservatives. Eden was the first prime minister that the public felt they could understand what they wanted. Anthony Eden was said to have ââ¬Ërepresented contemporary manhood.ââ¬â¢ This led the public to believe that for the first time after the war they would receive the benefits that they wanted. Eden has also many progressive ideas in domestic affairs however in the end this was his downfall. The Suez crisis split the conservative party and for the first time it looked like they would be weakened and labour would take power however it didnââ¬â¢t. Eden was resigned in 1957 and Harold Macmillan who led the campaign to abort the Suez crisis emerged as prime minister. He restored the party unity and in the 1959 led the conservatives to another win in the election. Macmillan from 1957 showedà his aura of confidence and political mastery. This showed to the public that the politicians and leaders in the party were strong willed and would do anything in their power to protect their country. This gave the conservatives the respect that they needed to go on and win the elections. Overall I think that although the labour party were weak, and this weakness led to the conservatives dominating politics and government; conservative dominance was due to the power that the leaders had. The people saw that this party was able to give them everything they wanted with the age of affluence. Also conservatives made sure that labour supporters would change sides as they gave respect to the labourââ¬â¢s post war consensus. With keeping with the post war consensus it showed to the people they were leaders who knew what they party wanted and not the ageing leader s in the labour party.

Legalizing Assisted Suicide For Terminally Ill Patients
The highest value of a democratic society is human rights, which means first of all that a human being is the one who is in charge of his or her own life. The premise presupposes that a person has the right to take a decision about what to do with his or her life on the most global level ââ¬â whether to go on living or stop living. That is why the state, which aim is to provide the execution of citizens rights, should pay careful attention to such a burning issue as helping terminally ill patients to die. The solution to the problem is legalizing euthanasia as a way of defending human rights alongside taking into consideration the possible moral challenges.Indeed, moral concerns have been the main factors which prevented the quick spread of euthanasia which could otherwise happen. It is first of all religious communities which oppress the adoption of the law, and the more religiously conservative the country is the stronger is the oppression to assisted suicide. Even if one doesnà ¢â¬â¢t know which countries already have the relevant laws we can easily guess what they are by knowing their excessive tolerance to controversial issues like legalizing marijuana or gay marriages.Among them are first of all Scandinavian countries and Holland, some of them having adopted the law others at the brink of adoption. It was in 1994 when Oregon approved Ballot Measure, which would have legalized physician-assisted suicide under limited condition but the vote met the oppression of Federal Government. So, the United States seem to belong to the countries with the strongest moral and religious orthodoxy alongside with deeply Catholic countries as opposed to the tolerant Protestant European societies mentioned above. However, the statistics show it is not completely true. In 1999 Gallup organization held a national survey asking Americans the following question: ââ¬Å"If you personally had a disease that could not be cured and were living in severe pain, would you consider c ommitting suicide or not?â⬠.Forty percent answered ââ¬Å"yesâ⬠, fifty one ââ¬â ââ¬Å"noâ⬠and nine were not sure. So, on the face of it, the community divided in halves, roughly speaking. But a there is crucially important detail which shouldnââ¬â¢t be missed: the respondents who took part are naturally not terminally ill and they donââ¬â¢t suffer severe pain. This fact distorts the real statistics which might arise in case they were suffering terrible tortures. But the controversy is not only about the rights of the patients but also about doctors who help their patients to die. The much-talked-of case of Dr.Kevorkian is the evidence of how ambiguous the interpretation of this or that action can be. ââ¬Å"He has been hailed as the champion of the right-to-die movement and denounced as a ghoulish cheerleader for suicideâ⬠(Lesenberry, 1994) Jack Kevorkian, who helped twenty people to die on their request, was given a name Dr Death. The case demonstrat ed the controversy, the current system of law has ââ¬â there is no legal differentiation between killing out of hate and killing out of mercy. There is a moral difference, however. And if we try to trace how the legal system has been historically formed, it becomes clear that it grew out of moral system of values, it was its reflection. Society has always been trying to match moral and law, and there have always been discrepancy between them which needed to be bridged. The historical process hasnââ¬â¢t stopped, and the gap needs to be overcome. But looking at the problem closer makes it evident that it is not so much a matter of the motivation of killing because it is not so much the formal ââ¬Å"killerâ⬠we are talking about. The focus is actually on the person who chooses death; a doctor is just an instrument for performing his or her will. Everyone should realize that making euthanasia a legal option is not defending suicide but defending choice.Depriving people of the right to choose is a heavy violation of their human rights. The task of the state is to find a way how to protect the rights of one side without violating the rights of the other one. But the point is the right of all people are least protected when there is no legal definition of the issue at all.One of the arguments against euthanasia is the claimed immorality of making the relatives of the terminally ill patients decide if to keep them living, especially in case the are not able to decide themselves, like those in coma. Indeed, the issue is very sensitive, which the survey confirmed. The respondents were asked the question: ââ¬Å"If a member of your family were terminally ill and wanted to die, would you be willing to help them?â⬠Forty percent said yes, forty-six no, and fourteen percent were not sure. Indeed, this is a moral challenge for the relatives of the person but again it is a matter of having choice.Of course, it is easier for the relatives to have no choice in su ch cases because indeed, it must be the hardest choice a person can face in his or her life. On the other hand, it is questionable what is more immoral ââ¬â to challenge the relatives with the decision or to let them shift responsibility by making the state decide instead of them.

Roman Empire Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Roman Empire - Essay Example 136 ) marks a significant episode in Romeââ¬â¢s military history, for they nearly lost the war to Hannibal, a great Carthaginian general. With the defeat of Hannibal at Zama by the Roman general Scipio, and the experience gained during the war, Rome appears to have learnt a lot from it and harbored bitter feelings at least for Carthage for the damages Hannibal caused; ravaging much of their homeland and leaving it in a deplorable state. The effect of this was to be seen in the manner in which Rome later formulated strategies, for tactical reasons, in handling her allies and foes in an attempt to expand and consolidate her empire. Indeed, it is the Punic wars that saw the rise of the Roman Empire and echoed the thud falling of the republic. With the fall of Carthage, The Romans inflicted severe punishment on her, an attempt which was meant to ensure that Carthage remained subservient. In the treaty signed between the two, Carthage agreed to Scipioââ¬â¢s terms which required her to pay Rome an indemnity of 10,000 talents in the subsequent five decades. In addition, Carthage was not to enter into any war without Romeââ¬â¢s consent and was to surrender her navy; all her warships and elephants (Koeller 2005).This defeat, coupled with the unfriendly Scipioââ¬â¢s terms, humbled Carthage and the Romans felt that the punishment rendered her toothless and that she was never to bite again, leave alone bark at Rome. In using this approach, Rome successfully managed to tame and robe Carthage of her political power making her to coil her tail, but not for long. Rome was not done with Carthage just yet. In a move seen as one to expand its empire, Rome turned its rage on the Kingdoms that did offer support to Hannibal during the war. Such were the kingdom of Macedon and some parts of Greece .This also saw the Mediterranean islands and Spain cede to Rome. Another score card at Romeââ¬â¢s disposal that came into effect during this period was the adoption of a rapa cious and brutal foreign policy: diplomacy based on trickery rather than on true valor. Lewis and Reinhold 1990 p. 202-203 provides succinctly how Rome, with their act of deceit, hoodwinked king Perseus, tactfully, with a scheme that saw him disadvantaged in a war Rome undeservingly won. Reporting their mission to the senate, notes Reinhold and Lewis, Marcius and Atillus were acknowledged for having shown skillful management in the execution of their mandate and their mission was approved. Though not a unilateral senate decision (with the older senators not amused with this decision terming it contrary to Roman traditions), the cunning diplomacy saw the day. It is in light of the above perhaps, that ruthless oppression became synonymous to Roman rule as seen in the acts of such individuals as Servius Salpicius Galba, the praetor of Farther Spain. Galba, during the war with the Lusitanians, committed a terrible atrocity, one which Reinhold terms as ââ¬Ëtreacherous annihilation of a disarmed populace.ââ¬â¢ Disguised as a peace maker and a sympathizer to the Lusitanians, Galba cunningly laid a snare in which his prey unsuspectingly got trapped. Defenseless and disadvantaged as they were, the Lusitanians were easily slewed by the Roman soldiers. This unfriendly Romeââ¬â¢s foreign policy subjected onto uninviting kingdoms appears to have worked in Romeââ¬â¢

Data Mining Theory Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Data Mining Theory - Essay Example Moreover, data mining methods and techniques are helpful for the companies to take actions against business queries that usually were prolonged to determine. They polish databases for unknown models, discovering analytical information that professionals can overlook for the reason that it resides external to their prospects (Thearling), (Berson, Smith and Thearling) and (Chen and Hu). In addition, classification and clustering analysis are two well-known data mining methods for discovering secret structures in large volume of data. On the other hand, classification and clustering are frequently known as identical, but actually they are dissimilar analytical techniques (Colet). This paper presents a detailed analysis of different data mining classification approaches. These classification techniques include Decision tree induction, Bayesian classification (Naive Bayes), Support Vectors Machines (SVM) and Lazy Learners (k-NN). 1- Introduction The one of the most useful techniques of da ta mining is classification that is a machine learning method employed to forecast cluster association for data samples. For instance, we can desire to utilize classification to forecast whether the weather of a specific weekââ¬â¢s day will be ââ¬Å"dampâ⬠, ââ¬Å"brightâ⬠or ââ¬Å"overcastâ⬠. Well-known classification methods comprise decision trees as well as neural networks (Chapple). Additionally, the technique of classification is a dissimilar from clustering technique. Though, the classification is related to clustering because it as well slices customer records into distinct sections known as classes. However, as compared to clustering, a classification analysis necessitates that the end-user/forecaster be acquainted with in advance how data and information classes are described. For instance, classes could be described to signify the probability that a client evades on a loan, and his answer could encompass (No/ Yes). In addition, it is essential that eve ry business record in the dataset utilized to develop the classifier previously encompassed a value for the aspect or attribute applied to describe the classes. For the reason that every business database record has a value intended for the attribute utilized to describe the classes, as well as for the reason that the end-user makes a decision on the attribute to utilize. Moreover, the classification is a great deal less investigative as compared to clustering method. On the other hand, the purpose of a classifier is not to discover the data to find out remarkable sections, however rather to make a decision how novel records should be classified, for example, if is this fresh customer likely to fail to pay on the loan he/she might borrow? (Colet) and (Berson, Smith and Thearling) This paper will outline the comparison of four data mining classification techniques including Decision tree induction, Bayesian classification (Naive Bayes), Support Vectors Machines (SVM) and Lazy Learner s (k-NN). This paper will also suggest the most effective technique for the better data assessment and analysis. 2- Problem Situation and Motivation Data mining and classification techniques are utilized by means of different algorithms, and the particular algorithm utilized in this scenario is able to influence the means records are grouped as well as classified. Theology the Church Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Theology the Church - Essay Example All through the world, men of God are renowned as true Prophets in the House, through a mission to envisage the body to be reinstated to the basics of the Apostolic Church that Jesus is building. The Lord is starting to illustrate the body a greater exposure and maturity of this often deserted ministry gift. Popular reconstruction starts with 'tombless' visions, and the separate appearance of an initially 'appearance free' empty tomb story, first in a pre-Marcan form and then as in Mark 16.8. The other evangelists then compile and develop the Marcan material in line with their distinctive redactional emphases. Thus, Matthew's descriptions develop his Jewish apocalyptic eschatology and illustrate the risen Jesus as Lord of the church in its new job to the Gentiles, as also contradicting Jewish opposition. Luke significantly improves the physicality of the renaissance, and highlights Jesus' fulfillment of Scripture as well as the centrality of Jerusalem for the source of a Spirit-filled mission of the church. John's account, marked all through by his high Christology, stresses the trust merit of the apostolic Easter indication and its call to faith in Jesus as Messiah and Son of God, while also rising the compound association between the Beloved Disciple and Simon Peter. Beyond this, lege ndary analysis traces apocryphal and Gnostic accounts with their more and more intricate development of the appearances and conversations of the risen Jesus. For scholarly reforms like this, the earliest customs knew no empty tomb and no appearances. Once such stories had begun to mount up, every new feature was prepared, sometimes more or less ex nihilo, to respond to the instant apologetic and pastoral desires of the evangelist's particular community. As the post-Easter public statement spread from Jews to Gentiles, the other titles developed for Jesus. The inculturation of the gospel in Gentile cultures required using terms that for the people uttered their faith in him as God and redeemer for them, and which in turn augment Christian considerate of the gospel itself. The titles for Jesus in the time of the Apostolic Fathers especially belong here and were very much influenced by the heresies combated. These improvements show that we approach an understanding of God through terms that are known to us as human beings. The more varied and multicultural the people who know Jesus, the more varied and compound will be the terms used to express this knowledge. Hellenistic Christianity lasted till the Vatican II. Simply from this time did Christianity become really a world religion, one that expresses itself in languages and notions of all peoples and cultures. This might explain why images of Christ have multiplied in current years. As marginalized men and women around the world seek to obtain Christ, they find in the gospels, their own cultures and personal experiences appropriate terms for expressing their faith in him. Vatican II supports in the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church. Because Jesus himself is the locus of God's congregation of humanity to the divine self, he cannot be constrained to any one church set up on a partisan basis. Christ provides the church its basic meaning. In him, the church

Plot Summary Catch Me If You Can Essay Example for Free
Plot Summary Catch Me If You Can Essay In 1963, teen-aged Frank Abagnale (Leonardo DiCaprio) lives New Rochelle, New York with his father Frank Abagnale, Sr. (Christopher Walken), and French mother Paula (Nathalie Baye). When Frank Sr. is denied a business loan at Chase Manhattan Bank due to unspecified difficulties with the IRS, the family is forced to move from their large home to a small apartment. Paula carries on an affair with Jack (James Brolin), a friend of her husband. Meanwhile, Frank poses as a substitute teacher in his French class. Franks parents file for divorce, and Frank runs away. When he runs out of money, he begins to rely on confidence scams to get by. Soon, Franks cons grow bolder and he even impersonates an airline pilot. He forges Pan Am payroll checks and succeeds in stealing over $2. 8 million. Meanwhile, Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), an FBI bank fraud agent, begins to track down Frank. Carl and Frank meet in a hotel, where Frank convinces Carl his name is Barry Allen of the Secret Service. Frank leaves, Carl angrily realizing his mistake just as it is too late. Later, at Christmas, Carl is still working when Frank calls him, attempting to apologize for duping Carl. Carl rejects his apology and tells him he will soon be caught, but laughs when he realizes Frank actually called him because he has no one else to talk to. Frank hangs up, and Carl continues to investigate, suddenly realizing (thanks to a waiter) that the name Barry Allen is from the Flash comic books and that Frank is just a teenager. Frank, meanwhile, has not only changed to becoming a doctor and a lawyer, but has fallen in love with Brenda (Amy Adams), to whom he eventually admits the truth about himself and asks her to run away with him. Carl tracks him to his engagement party where Frank has left Brenda, asking her to meet him two days later so they can elope. Frank sees her waiting for him two days later, but also sees agents in disguise. He realizes he has been set up and escapes on a flight to Europe. Seven months later, Carl shows his boss that Frank has been forging checks all over western Europe and asks permission to go to Europe to look for him. When his boss says no, Carl brings Franks checks to printing professionals who deem that the checks were printed in France. Carl remembers from an interview with Franks mother that she was born in Montrichard, France. He goes there and finds Frank, and tells him that the French police will kill him if he does not go with Carl quietly. Frank assumes he is lying at first, but Carl promises Frank he would never lie to him, and Carl takes him outside, where the French police escort him to prison. The scene then flashes forward to a plane returning Frank home from prison, where Carl informs him that his father has died. Consumed with grief, Frank escapes from the plane and goes back to his old house, where he finds his mother with the man she left his father for, as well as a girl who Frank realizes is his half-sister. Frank gives himself up and is sentenced to 12 years in prison, getting visits from time to time from Carl. When Frank points out how one of the checks Carl is carrying as evidence is fake, Carl convinces the FBI to offer Frank a deal by which he can live out the remainder of his sentence working for the bank fraud department of the FBI, which Frank accepts. While working at the FBI, Frank misses the thrill of the chase and even attempts to fly as an airline pilot again. He is cornered by Carl, who insists that Frank will return to the FBI job since no one is chasing him. On the following Monday, Carl is nervous that Frank has not yet appeared at work. However, Frank does show up and they discuss their next case. The ending credits reveal that Frank has been happily married for 26 years, has three sons, lives in the Midwest, is still good friends with Carl, has caught some of the worlds most elusive money forgers, and earns millions of dollars each year because of his work creating unforgeable checks.
